16-seat minibus with driver
What minibus hire with a driver actually includes
Minibus hire with a driver means you book a vehicle and a professionally licensed driver together, as one service. The operator supplies the minibus, fuel, insurance and a PSV-qualified driver; you supply the itinerary. Prices are quoted per trip or per day, not per seat.
That is the difference between this and self-drive minibus rental, where you collect a vehicle and drive it yourself, which for anything over 8 passengers usually requires a D1 category on your licence. With a driver, no special licence is needed by anyone in your group, and the operator carries the passenger-carrying insurance and operator licence.
The service covers airport runs, weddings, corporate travel, school and college trips, sports fixtures, stag and hen parties, festival transport and private day trips, in vehicles from 8 up to 26 seats. Above roughly 26 seats you move into coach hire, which we also arrange.

Choosing a vehicle
Group size decides everything else
Seat counts on most UK minibuses include the driver, so a 12 seater carries 11 passengers. Luggage is the thing groups underestimate.

Common questions
How much does it cost to hire a minibus with a driver?
For mainland UK, expect roughly £70 to £160 for a short airport transfer in an 8-seater and £330 to £460 for a full day in a 12-seater with a driver. Price moves with distance, duration, pick-up time and season rather than with the number of passengers.
Is the driver included in the seat count?
Usually yes. On most UK minibuses a "12 seater" includes the driver's seat, so it carries 11 passengers. If your group is exactly at a seat limit, book the next size up.
Do I need a special licence?
No. When you hire with a driver, the operator's PSV-licensed driver drives. A D1 licence category is only needed if you self-drive a minibus, which is a different service we do not arrange.
Can you cover wheelchair access?
Some operators run wheelchair-accessible minibuses with tail lifts or ramps, but availability varies sharply by area and they book out early. Tell us at enquiry stage so we only approach operators who genuinely have one.
How far in advance should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for a standard weekday trip. For summer weekends, wedding season, festivals and school-trip periods, six to eight weeks is realistic, because larger vehicles go first.
Is luggage included?
Luggage space is the most common cause of a trip going wrong. A 16-seater with 16 people and 16 suitcases will not fit unless it has a dedicated boot or trailer. Tell us the luggage count and we will size the vehicle properly.
Straight answers
What we are honest about
- We are a comparison and enquiry service, not a fleet operator. We do not own the vehicles; we match you to licensed operators who do.
- The price bands on this page are indicative guidance from published UK rates, not a quote. Yours may fall outside them.
- Coverage is genuinely thinner in rural areas and the Scottish Highlands than in the cities. If nobody covers your route we will say so rather than waste your time.
- Wheelchair accessible and very large vehicles are limited stock nationally, especially at weekends.
